Ornamental grasses do the work along this Lake Catoma deck. They move in the wind coming off the water, they soften the line where the coping meets the lawn, and they take full afternoon sun on an exposed lakefront without being babied.
Deciding what goes beside the hardscape is a design decision, not a finishing touch. We plant for the light, the wind and the water the site actually gets.
Design Is Where Everything Begins
Every project we build starts as a drawing, and every drawing starts with a walk. Drew Treece, our designer, reads a property the way most people read a room: where the light falls in the evening, where the water wants to go, where the eye lands first from the kitchen window. The plan that comes out of that walk is not a catalog of features. It is one coherent landscape, drawn for your house and no one else’s.
Good design pays for itself twice over. It keeps you from building the wrong thing, and it sequences the right things so each phase makes sense on its own. A master plan can be built over years, one comfortable stage at a time: the patio this season, the lighting next, the water feature when you are ready for it.
