Stone Is the Most Honest Material
Stone does not pretend. Laid well, it looks better at year twenty than year one; laid badly, it announces the fact forever. Our masons build retaining walls that hold back real hillsides, seat walls that invite people toward the fire, steps that land exactly where a walking foot expects them, and boulder work that looks like the glacier left it there rather than a machine.
Around here the work is structural as often as it is beautiful. Madison and Huntsville lots roll, and a retaining wall done right is engineering: drainage behind the face, base compacted in lifts, batter set to the load. That is the part you never see, and the reason the wall is still plumb in thirty years.
Stone threads through everything else we build: fireplaces and firepits, water features, patios, and the columns and entries that greet you at the drive.

Drew Treece draws the stone into the whole landscape, choosing material that matches the house and the region.
The build
Our masons set the base, the drainage, and then the face, run by a project manager who keeps you informed.
The reveal
We walk the finished work together. Stone photographs well; it holds up even better.
Masonry Questions, Answered
Natural stone or manufactured block?
Natural stone brings character no mold can copy; engineered block brings precision and value on long structural runs. We use both where each belongs and will tell you which is which.
My yard slopes. Wall or regrade?
Sometimes both. A site visit answers it properly; the right retaining wall can turn an unusable slope into the best flat ground on the property.
Will new stonework match our house?
Matching stone and mortar to what is already standing is a point of pride for our masons, and when an exact match is impossible we will say so and design a deliberate contrast instead.
