In a Tennessee Valley summer, the difference between a patio you admire from the kitchen window and a patio you actually sit on at two in the afternoon is shade. A pergola filters the light and gives vines somewhere to go; a pavilion gives you a true roof, a ceiling fan, and a dry seat in a thunderstorm. One is a veil, the other is a room. Which one you want depends on how you intend to live out there, and that is the first conversation we have.
Either way, it is a structure: real footings, posts sized to the span, joinery and fasteners that will not shame the house they stand beside. Built well, a pavilion reads like it was part of the original architecture. Built poorly, it reads like a kit. We build the first kind.

Pergola or pavilion, how do we choose?
Ask what weather you want to defeat. Sun alone says pergola; sun and rain, with a fan overhead, says pavilion. We will help you get honest about it.
Wood or low-maintenance materials?
Cedar brings warmth and takes stain; engineered materials trade some character for near-zero upkeep. Both build beautifully when detailed right.
Do pergolas and pavilions need permits?
Sometimes, depending on size and where they stand. When one is required, securing it is part of our job, not a surprise left on your desk.
